The brilliant entire FUTURA is eyeing to follow in the legendary footsteps of Pocket Power, aiming to clinch back-to-back victories in South Africa’s top mile race. The son of Dynasty had a standout 2015 with three Grade 1 wins, and his comeback behind CAPTAIN AMERICA on Kenilworth’s winter course seven weeks ago has solid form. With seven weeks of fitness gains and a strong summer-course affinity, coupled with a top draw and an electrifying turn of foot, Futura looks the horse to beat especially in what could be a race lacking a strong gallop.
Last year’s archrival and then favourite, LEGISLATE, has been sparingly raced since but showed his class with a Grade 1 mile victory in KZN against some top contenders. Although he hasn’t raced since reportedly tiring late to Futura this season, both horses now represent the same stable. Legislate, another son of Dynasty, will look to make all the running with the masterful Piere Strydom aboard. Expect a thrilling duel between these two champions!
