However, Vardy’s sensational volley from a precise cross by Marc Albrighton gave Leicester the perfect start. Spurs almost replied immediately as Moussa Sissoko found himself one-on-one but Schmeichel’s quick reflexes, combined with Vicente Iborra’s clearance off the line, kept the Foxes ahead.
Both teams enjoyed some attacking moments, with Danny Rose almost assisting Kane, who then missed a big chance. Leicester’s Wilfried Ndidi also tried his luck with a volley that went narrowly wide.
Mahrez showcased his brilliance on a sharp counter-attack, cutting inside from the right before curling a superb left-footed shot into the corner, doubling Leicester’s lead.
Late in the match, Christian Eriksen had a golden chance after a Son Heung-Min cross but sent his shot wide. Kane’s goal came after a clever assist from substitute Erik Lamela, bringing Tottenham back into the contest.
Fernando Llorente almost equalised with a volley after good delivery from Serge Aurier, but the ball sailed over the crossbar. Tottenham’s hope was further dashed when a penalty appeal was dismissed in injury time, and Leicester secured a vital win to delight their fans.
