Mohamed Salah was absolutely flying off the bench, helping Liverpool secure a thrilling 3-0 win against a struggling Stoke side on Wednesday night!
Jurgen Klopp’s men came out strong as Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 17th minute, setting the tone for the evening. However, it was the electric Salah who sealed the deal, scoring a sensational brace in the second half, extending Liverpool’s unbeaten Premier League streak to five games.
Match Highlights
The opener came from a well-worked move where Dominic Solanke battled to keep the ball in play from Joe Gomez’s cross, assisting Mane to slot it home from close range.
Solanke had another chance later but was denied by a fine save from Lee Grant. The referee faced a tricky decision just before halftime when Simon Mignolet brought down Mame Biram Diouf outside the box; the keeper was fortunate to get just a booking instead of a sending off.
The Potters had some near misses post-break with the woodwork saving them after Mane got past the offside trap, and ex-Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen missed two chances to equalise.
With 23 minutes to go, Klopp introduced Salah, who dazzled the crowd by volleying home a sublime finish from Mane’s cross in the 77th minute. Just six minutes later, Salah capitalised on a sloppy back-pass from Erik Pieters, calmly slotting the ball into the net to wrap up the victory.
