The speedy bay gelding pushed hard but missed catching his experienced stablemate Pata Pata, finishing a solid second – eight lengths ahead of third placed LA MER. Given his debut experience, Pacific Trader is expected to have improved plenty.

STAR BURST has shown good promise, finishing a creditable 3rd in a strong field over slightly shorter distance four weeks ago. The daughter of Silvano has a better draw today and will surely relish stepping up in trip.

The lone filly in the field, ELUSIVE HEART, boasts a win over the talented Snowdance, despite being outpaced by the same rival in two later races. She bounced back strongly to claim a last victory over seven furlongs against a tough field, despite a headwind. With a solid record over this course and distance and still improving, Elusive Heart shouldn’t be underestimated today.

TRIP TO HEAVEN has gone a year without a win since his dominant performance over TEVEZ in this race. Despite this, the Trippi gelding has shown consistent high-quality runs at the top level. He has been well prepared for this race and should strip fitter after his seasonal debut last month. Keep an eye on the three-year-olds who have already been successful in open feature races this season, as they could challenge strongly.

BWANA showed great fighting spirit on his narrow debut win here last month. Recovering quickly from a slow start, he displayed telling pace before battling back determinedly to win narrowly over the subsequent winner Dynasty’s Boy. Although he faces tougher rivals on his handicap debut, Bwana is likely better than his current rating and has plenty of room to improve.
