Hollywoodbets Dolphins Raise R9,000 for CHOC with Exciting Boundary Challenge

CHOC receives R9000 after Hollywoodbets Dolphins Match

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins proudly dedicated their 24 January clash against the bizhub Highveld Lions to support the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA in the KZN region. Fans were encouraged to wear blue to boost awareness for this impactful cause. Plus, Hollywoodbets pledged a generous R250 donation to CHOC for every boundary scored during the match!

The game was a cracker, with the Dolphins smashing 22 boundaries, and the Lions not far behind with 14! This smashing performance means CHOC received a fantastic R9,000 from the match, which ended in a win for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins.

Agie Govender, CHOC Regional Manager, expressed heartfelt thanks for this vital funding, which will help broaden their support budget.

“These funds are earmarked specifically to cover transport costs for children undergoing cancer treatment,” Govender explained. “There are two main treatment centres for provincial patients, often serving the most vulnerable. Since treatment can last up to five years, many children unfortunately drop out as families struggle with the travel expenses. Our Social Worker assesses families facing severe financial hardships and allocates funds to ensure transport costs don’t prevent treatment continuation. Each week, between fifteen to twenty families will benefit from this generous donation.”

“We’re truly honoured that Hollywoodbets has chosen to support us once again. Back in 2016, they partnered with CHOC to help the CHOC House and volunteer programme in Pietermaritzburg. This ongoing collaboration highlights the crucial role major companies have in uplifting communities,” Govender added warmly.

Devin Heffer, Media & Communications Executive at Hollywoodbets, praised the team’s commitment and the enthusiastic fans. “What a match! With 36 boundaries in total, the Dolphin fans were treated to plenty of excitement, and this thrilling performance secured a significant donation for CHOC. At Hollywoodbets, we’re passionate about making positive impacts in our communities and it’s a privilege to work alongside our team to drive change for those who need it most,” he said.

This generous donation comes timely ahead of International Childhood Cancer Day on 15 February 2018.
