Coach Grant Morgan is keeping it real, acknowledging the Warriors as the tournament’s finest fielding unit. “They’ve reached two finals last season and are already semifinalists this season,” he remarked. “To triumph this Friday, we’ve got to be at the top of our game.”
Despite their semi-final success, Morgan felt there’s room for perfection. “That 230 score was defendable, but we need our bowlers firing consistently. While our bowling has been exceptional all season, the ideal game is still ahead. Our batting, though promising at times, hasn’t fully hit its peak,” he explained.
The Dolphins’ top order has been impressive throughout, with stars like Morné van Wyk, Sarel Erwee, and Dane Vilas piling on the runs. Alongside the likes of Vaughn van Jaarsveld, who battled injuries earlier, they form a formidable line-up that’s tough to crack.
Durban hasn’t witnessed a domestic cricket final since the 2001/2002 season when KwaZulu-Natal triumphed over Western Province in the 50-over competition. Morgan and his team are eager to deliver an unforgettable performance for the home crowd.
