Match Summary

Juventus took the lead swiftly, with Gonzalo Higuain netting a goal just a minute after kickoff and doubling the advantage nine minutes later from the penalty spot.

But under the sharp guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham took charge on the pitch. Harry Kane scored ten minutes before halftime, cutting the deficit, and Christian Eriksen’s brilliant second-half strike ensured Tottenham walked away with a valuable draw.

Full Report

The match kicked off with the home team Juventus setting the pace, capitalising on a lapse in Tottenham’s defence during a free-kick by Piralem Pjanic. Higuain was unmarked inside the box and volleyed decisively past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, despite his best effort to keep it out.

Eriksen nearly responded immediately with a volley of his own, but the ball sailed just over the bar. However, Tottenham’s defensive errors continued when Ben Davies fouled Filippo Bernardeschi inside the box, allowing Higuain to convert a penalty and make it 2-0.

Tottenham fought back fiercely. Kane tested Juventus keeper Gigi Buffon with a powerful header in the 26th minute, followed by other near misses, showing their intent. Dele Alli’s deft play eventually led to Kane’s goal in the 35th minute, where he skilfully rounded Buffon to slot the ball home.

Tottenham kept up the pressure, with Eriksen unleashing a stinging shot that Buffon had to punch away. Juventus threatened on counters too, with chances from Bernardeschi and Mandzukic, but Lloris remained vigilant.

In the 70th minute, Kane sought to catch Buffon off guard with a striking effort, which was mishandled, and Eriksen expertly curled a free-kick two minutes later to level the match.

Juventus pushed hard for a late winner, but their best chances were narrowly missed as Tottenham held firm, securing a memorable 2-2 draw that sets up a thrilling second leg.
