Hollywoodbets Dolphins’ all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy has been called up to join the South Africa A squad set to face Australia in a tour match to be played at Sahara Park Willowmore from February 22 to 24.
This talented 23-year-old is steadily making his mark in cricket, showing the determination and skill to climb to the very top of the sport. Having featured in 52 First-class matches so far, this left-handed all-rounder has accumulated a remarkable 2649 runs and taken 82 wickets.
Muthusamy made a strong impression in the recent Momentum One Day Cup with his all-round abilities, but it’s in the gruelling four-day Sunfoil Series where he truly established himself within the Dolphins squad.
Reflecting on his achievement, Muthusamy shared, “I think that I’ve learned more about myself and what helps me do well. I’ve really tried to be as consistent as I can in my preparation and performances over the past few months.”
He added, “It was not a complete surprise as I have planned on moving my career forward through consistent performances with bat and ball – it’s a huge honour and I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to represent the SA A team.”
Facing Australia’s top bowlers will be a true test and a fantastic opportunity for Muthusamy to gauge where he stands on the international stage.
“It is a terrific opportunity to experience playing against Australia, and test myself against some high-quality players,” he enthused.
When asked about role models, Muthusamy looks up to the elegant left-hander Kumar Sangakkara from Sri Lanka, not just for his cricketing prowess but also his humility and character.
“Somebody I’ve always enjoyed watching is Kumar Sangakkara from Sri Lanka; apart from being a good cricketer he is a good human being and a humble man,” Muthusamy concluded.
Muthusamy’s calm and composed style on the field often reminds fans of the Sri Lankan great Sangakkara.
He will be joining fellow Hollywoodbets Dolphins captain Khaya Zondo who is honoured as the side’s leader for this exciting tour.
