Spanish La Liga: Gameweek 29 Preview | Hollywoodbets Sports Blog

With just 10 rounds remaining, the Spanish La Liga sees Barcelona comfortably positioned to clinch the championship crown.

The Catalans are currently leading the pack, holding an eight-point advantage over second-placed Atletico Madrid, and a hefty 15 points ahead of the defending champions and fierce rivals, Real Madrid, who sit in third place. Valencia, who ended last season in 12th, are looking strong to snatch fourth place from Sevilla, boasting an 11-point lead over Los Rojiblancos.

At the other end of the table, Malaga seems destined for relegation for the first time since their 2008/09 promotion. Meanwhile, Levante (17th), Las Palmas (18th), and Deportivo (19th) are all locked in a fierce battle to avoid the drop.

Friday 16 March

21/10 Levante | Draw 21/10 | Eibar 14/10 (22:00)

Levante, placed 17th in La Liga, secured their first league win in 16 games with a 1-0 victory at Getafe last weekend, bolstering hopes for survival as they hold a four-point cushion above danger. Eibar, targeting consecutive top-half finishes, have managed just one win in their last five matches, with three losses (two to Barcelona and Real Madrid). On the road, Los Armeros have lost once in seven games, winning three. Their October fixture ended 2-2, and another draw seems a likely outcome.

Saturday 17 March

8/10 Deportivo | Draw 26/10 | Las Palmas 33/10 (14:00)

Deportivo languish 19th, five points adrift of 17th-placed Levante, under the stewardship of Clarence Seedorf. Winless in 13 outings with nine losses, they’ve netted a single goal in their last seven while conceding 13. Las Palmas sits 18th, one point ahead but without victory in six matches, including back-to-back defeats. They have failed to score in 10 of their last 12 away games. An Under 2.5 Goals bet at even money is the safest pick.

9/20 Valencia | Draw 34/10 | Alaves 57/10 (17:15)

Valencia remain unbeaten in their last six, including wins over Real Betis and Sevilla. The home ground has been formidable, winning three straight including a previous 2-1 win over Alaves. Alaves have been defeated in their last two matches and five of their last six away. Picking a home victory is recommended.

7/10 Real Sociedad | Draw 11/4 | Getafe 4/1 (19:30)

Real Sociedad’s away woes continue after a 2-1 loss at Espanyol, marking ten matches without an away win. Back at home, they’ve won three messages in a row, scoring 10 goals and conceding once. Getafe seeks rebound after losses to Real Madrid and Levante but only has one away win in 13. Home win is favoured.

5/4 Real Betis | Draw 9/4 | Espanyol 9/4 (21:45)

Real Betis gained their third away win in four trips by beating Alaves 3-1. Despite this, their home record includes just two wins in their last nine with four losses. Espanyol remains unbeaten in their last seven, with five draws. A draw is a sensible pick.

Sunday 18 March

23/10 Leganes | Draw 22/10 | Sevilla 5/4 (13:00)

Leganes has one win in their last eight games, a 2-0 home win over Malaga, but were winless in the previous three home games. Sevilla looks to recover from a 2-0 loss at home to Valencia, winning three of their last four away contests. The away win is the smart call.

1/5 Barcelona | Draw 11/2 | Athletic Bilbao 25/2 (17:15)

Leaders Barcelona are clear favourites over Athletic Bilbao, having won 11 of 13 home games and five straight matches against Bilbao, scoring 13 goals without conceding. Bilbao is in a five-match winless streak away. Bet on Barca to win to nil at 8/10.

5/10 Celta Vigo | Draw 32/10 | Malaga 11/2 (19:30)

Celta Vigo aims to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, holding a five-game unbeaten home run with three wins. Malaga is the struggling side, winless in 13 matches including 11 defeats. A home win is expected.

3/1 Villarreal | Draw 9/4 | Atletico Madrid 1/1 (19:30)

Villarreal broke their losing spell with a 2-0 win over Las Palmas and aim to extend dominance over Atletico Madrid, being unbeaten in five matches against them. Atletico, however, has lost only once in 11 games and won nine. An away win bet is advised.

1/6 Real Madrid | Draw 13/2 | Girona 25/2 (21:45)

Real Madrid recently won six out of seven, including victories against Getafe and Eibar, and look for a fifth consecutive home win. Girona, seventh in La Liga and impressive for a promoted side, have won four of their last five matches but only one away in seven. Predicting Real Madrid to win with both teams scoring at 11/10.
