Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot had some fiery words following Wednesday’s intense 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Rabiot got PSG off to a flying start by putting the ball in the net first at the legendary Santiago Bernabeu, but Real Madrid fought back fiercely with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo, placing Los Blancos in a commanding position for the round-of-16 showdown.
“I’m really disappointed,” Rabiot shared with BeIN after the match. “We kicked off the game just like we planned. We always talk about the same things, we play the same way, but in the end, we always seem to trip up the same way.”
Last season, PSG suffered a heartbreaking collapse after leading Barcelona by four goals at the same knockout stage. This year, the Parisians are desperate to prove their mettle on the European stage.
Dominating Ligue 1 with a 12-point lead and a whopping +59 goal difference, the talented French midfielder voiced his frustration at their struggle to match Europe’s elite clubs.
“Sure, it feels great scoring eight goals against Dijon, but it’s in high-stakes games like this that you have to step up and be counted,” Rabiot added. “It’s extremely frustrating to let such a crucial game slip away from our grasp.”
