Chelsea are currently negotiating with Roma about signing the talented left-back Emerson Palmieri and are also showing keen interest in bringing striker Edin Dzeko on board.
Emerson, originally from Brazil but aiming to represent Italy internationally, would provide strong competition and a backup role to Marcos Alonso, one of Chelsea’s standout players from the wing-back position this season.
“Nothing is definite just yet, we’re in the middle of discussions and assessments,” said Emerson’s agent, Fernando Garcia from Elenko Sports, in a statement to Calciomercato.
“Chelsea is a very real option and talks between the clubs are underway. We’ll just have to wait and see if a positive outcome is reached.
Emerson would be thrilled to play in the Premier League and working with coach Conte, who is one of the finest managers globally, would be a dream come true.”
Dzeko, who boasts five years of Premier League experience with Manchester City, impressively scored 29 goals in 37 Serie A matches last season and currently has nine goals from 19 appearances this campaign.
As Chelsea aims to boost their striking options following a dry spell for Alvaro Morata and Antonio Conte’s apparent lack of trust in Michy Batshuayi as cover, the club is eager to add firepower to their squad this January transfer window.
