What could have been a thrilling cricket spectacle turned into a damp squib as rain washed out the game in Durban.
Durban – Thousands packed the stands at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, eager to witness the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge flicker to life with the Hollywoodbets Dolphins taking on the VKB Knights on a lively Friday evening. However, the skies had other plans and no balls were bowled as the unwelcomed rain put paid to the match.
Nearly 6,000 enthusiastic fans showed up to back the home team in their opening T20 home fixture, only to be left disappointed by the unexpected rainfall that halted play before it could even start.
As a result, both the Dolphins and the Knights shared the spoils, each taking two points. This boosts the Dolphins to six points from two games, positioning them firmly in second place on the league table.
On a brighter note for the Dolphins, star leg-spinner Imran Tahir made a welcome return to the squad. Despite doubts about his fitness throughout the week, Tahir will be available when the Dolphins travel to face the bizhub Highveld Lions over the weekend.
Looking ahead, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins are set to clash with the Highveld Lions at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom this Sunday, before returning home for a midweek showdown with the Warriors at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Wednesday.
