In a thrilling move, Arsenal has confirmed that Everton have secured the services of forward Theo Walcott for a reported £20 million on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The England international has been a key player at the Gunners for 12 memorable years, netting an impressive 108 goals across 397 appearances in all competitions. Making his first-team debut back in 2006 as a promising teenager from Southampton, Walcott rapidly became a fan favourite.
Throughout his stellar career with Arsenal, he lifted two FA Cup trophies in 2015 and 2017, even scoring the opening goal in the emphatic 4-0 win over Aston Villa in 2015.
Recognised early for his immense potential, Theo made his England debut as a mere 17-year-old and went on to represent the Three Lions 47 times, scoring eight goals. His unforgettable hat-trick against Croatia in 2008 solidified his status as one of England’s brightest upcoming stars.
Arsenal’s official statement reads: “We sincerely thank Theo for his outstanding contribution to the club and wish him every success in his future endeavours. The transfer is subject to the standard regulatory approvals.”
Expressing his gratitude, Walcott took to his official Twitter to say:
“A huge thank you to everyone involved – manager Arsène Wenger, the coaching staff, backroom team, and all the wonderful people at Arsenal who have felt like family over the past 12 years.”
“I also want to thank all my teammates over the years and, most importantly, the fans for their unwavering support. While it’s sad to leave, I’m equally excited to embrace a new challenge at Everton. I wish Arsenal nothing but the best for the future.”
