Our football expert is here with a thrilling preview of the French Ligue 1 Week 14 fixtures, kicking off Friday, 24 November 2017.
Last week was a tough one for our Ligue 1 betting tips, with Monaco dropping points at home against the pesky Amiens, Lille surprising with a win over St-Etienne, and both Marseille and Lyon failing to secure victories.
Looking ahead, the fixture everyone’s talking about is the blockbuster clash as PSG head to Monaco. Meanwhile, Lille is buzzing with momentum and aiming for back-to-back wins. Over at Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz will be eager to capitalise on last week’s draw against Toulouse, welcoming a visiting Amiens side to their home turf.
Friday 24 November
St-Etienne 17/20 | Draw 49/20 | Strasbourg 32/10
The action starts on Friday evening with St-Etienne hosting Strasbourg. St-Etienne have had a shaky run lately after a promising season start. Heavy defeats to Lyon and Lille have fans crying out for a win. Hosting struggling Strasbourg, they’ll need a strong performance to win back the crowd. However, Strasbourg remains unpredictable, swinging from draws to wins to heavy losses. Play it safe and consider the home win at 17/20.
Saturday 25 November
Rennes 14/10 | Draw 2/1 | Nantes 43/20
Rennes’ three-match winning run was stopped by Strasbourg last week. Hosting Nantes won’t be easy, though their recent victories were tight 1-0s signalling strong defence but limited scoring. Nantes’ defensive slip-up against PSG was surprising, likely down to nerves playing the champions. Expect a cautious game; bet on under 2.5 goals at 5/10.
Dijon 5/4 | Draw 22/10 | Toulouse 9/4
Dijon’s recent form is impressive with three wins in four matches, including a 3-1 win over Troyes. Toulouse has struggled, failing to beat a 10-man Metz side recently and entering a three-match win-less streak. Dijon looks the better bet here.
Troyes 43/20 | Draw 22/10 | Angers 13/10
Troyes remains inconsistent this season, with recent setbacks. Angers did well to secure a 1-1 draw at Guingamp and have a prime chance to climb from 16th to eighth. Avoid betting on this one but if you must, Angers at 13/10 has good value.
Montpellier 12/10 | Draw 21/10 | Lille 26/10
Montpellier has drawn their last two matches but will be confident against struggling Lille, who have slipped in form. A good run could see Montpellier break into the top four, so back the home win at 12/10.
Metz 14/10 | Draw 43/20 | Amiens 21/10
Metz have been poor this season with just one win but managed a gritty draw with Toulouse last week. Amiens is unbeaten in six games and are tipped to take the win at 21/10.
Caen 9/4 | Draw 21/10 | Bordeaux 27/20
Behind Monaco vs PSG, Caen vs Bordeaux is the weekend’s standout. Caen sits sixth with solid home form, losing just once in six games at home and aims to extend that against struggling Bordeaux, who haven’t won in six. Take Caen on the Win/Draw double chance at 11/20.
Sunday 26 November
Nice 9/4 | Draw 5/2 | Lyon 23/20
Nice looks to be turning their season around after a win and a draw recently, but face a tough test against Lyon. Lyon missed key man Nabil Fekir in their last match but he returns Sunday, boosting their chances. Back Lyon to win.
Marseille 5/10 | Draw 33/10 | Guingamp 47/10
Marseille stumbled with a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux, gifting the opposition an early goal but dominating the match with lots of possession and chances. Guingamp continue to struggle and have little hope. Back Marseille to secure the win.
Monaco 36/10 | Draw 7/2 | PSG 6/10
Monaco has been thrilling yet inconsistent, recently coming off three straight wins but settling for a 1-1 with Amiens. Six points behind PSG, this clash is a must-win for the defending champs. PSG remains unbeaten and will look to dominate the game despite the tough away trip. PSG is tipped for the win.
Treble tipped at 6.44/1
Amiens win 21/10
Marseille win 5/10
PSG win 6/10
