Get ready as we dive into this week’s PGA Tour highlight—the OHL Classic at Mayakoba—set from 9 to 12 October at the spectacular El Camaleon Golf Club.
The PGA Tour takes an unusual and exciting journey this week down to Mexico for the latest edition of the OHL Classic. This tournament has evolved significantly since its inception. Initially known as the Mayakoba Golf Classic, it used to run alongside the WGC event in Arizona back in February. However, since 2013, it shifted to November, marking the start of the PGA Tour season, now featuring FedEx Cup points and gaining prestige since Fred Funk, at 50, clinched the first title back in 2007.
The OHL Classic at Mayakoba | 9 October – 12 October | El Camaleon Golf Club
Crafted by golf legend Greg Norman and completed in 2004, El Camaleon Golf Club is a gem of a course, blending three diverse landscapes—lush mangroves, dense tropical jungles, and a stunning coastline. The course is notoriously affected by wind and features smaller than usual Sea Isle Paspalum greens. Back in 2012, among 8 courses under 7,000 yards, it was rated as the toughest. Thanks to the switch to November, players can expect much gentler conditions with an average winning score of -17 over the last four years.
Leading the charge this week is the renowned Ricky Fowler, with fan favourite Patrick Reed, aka ‘Mr America,’ sure to pull in impressive crowds. Defending champ Pat Perez, coming off recent wins, will be aiming to score back-to-back titles. Meanwhile, major winners like Graeme McDowell and Zach Johnson strive to stay competitive, and emerging talents such as Chez Reavie are looking to rise through the ranks.

Value Picks for the Win
Emiliano Grillo – To Win 50/1, To Place 11/1
Taking a punt on the talented Argentine, Emiliano Grillo, this week. Although his recent form has been unpredictable, Grillo played some of his best golf around this time last season, including a top-10 finish in this tournament on his first try. This course fits his game well. It’s a risk but sometimes the season’s timing calls for a little gamble away from the favourites.
Whee Kim – To Win 55/1, To Place 12/1
Form is king, and Whee Kim is buzzing with it. After his impressive tie for fourth at the CJ Cup and a stunning runner-up finish in Vegas last week, Kim’s showing he’s no flash in the pan. Underrated players in great shape often offer the best bang for your buck, making Kim a smart choice this week.
Peter Malnati – To Win 160/1, To Place 35/1
For those looking at the long odds, Peter Malnati is an intriguing selection. Known for his solid game rather than flashy power, Malnati has impressed with his steady putting and fairway accuracy. He boasts two Web.Com Tour titles and a PGA Tour win at the Sanderson Farms Classic. His recent consistent cuts and promising rounds show he’s got something about him.
The Man to Beat: Chesson Hadley – To Win 20/1, To Place 44/10
With a fantastic run of form, Chesson Hadley stands out. His only PGA Tour win came at the Puerto Rico Open in 2014, so similar conditions should suit him well. His recent results are impressive, including multiple top finishes. At 20/1, this is excellent value for a player in such great shape.
