Magic Tips by eMeM: Top Picks
Race 4: RIVERBOAT QUEEN (4)
Jockey: Serino MOODLEY – Trainer: Willem A NEL
RIVERBOAT QUEEN isn’t the best on wet tracks, which explains her recent sub-par performance. However, she had a very promising debut locally before that and the daughter of Querari is expected to bounce back strongly today.

Race 5: RODNEY (3)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON
The grey gelding RODNEY thrives on a fast pace over the minimum distance, where he bursts into life in the final furlong. This was clear in his listed win on the polytrack late last season. As a son of Tapit dropping in class here, Rodney is set to perform superbly today under Marcus’s experienced riding.

Race 6: OUT MY WAY (6)
Jockey: Eric S NGWANE – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL
OUT MY WAY favours the minimum distance and showed strong late signs of promise on polytrack last month. Keep an eye on Filippo (who runs in the prior race) as he recently beat our top tip. This Van Zyl trainee is dropping in class and is capable of good form on grass, having shaved his maiden tag on turf already.

Race 8: MIRWA (1)
Jockey: A Marcus – Trainer: D Howells
MIRWA likely needed her comeback run where she was caught late to finish second over this trip at Scottsville. Racing fitter here, the Fort Wood filly is expected to keep impressing. She has a favourable draw for her debut at this track.

Race 9: AMERICAN CAPTAIN (11)
Jockey: B Lerena – Trainer: Mark DIXON
This last race may not be as straightforward as the odds suggest, with a potential upset from AMERICAN CAPTAIN. This well-bred son of Captain Al improved nicely despite tiring late after setting the pace over this trip at Scottsville three weeks ago. That was his return from a 10-week break, so he should come fitter today and could relish the shorter finish, especially if allowed to lead. His stable is currently in fine form.
