The unstoppable Pitso Mosimane’s troops lit up the pitch early, with Motjeka Madisha confidently dispatching a penalty in the third minute to get the ball rolling.

Themba Zwane continued the charge, doubling the lead before halftime, while Percy Tau’s second-half brace cemented a brilliant win that saw Sundowns leapfrog Baroka to claim the league summit.

Match Highlights

From the kick-off, Sundowns stamped their authority. Ali Banda’s foul on Sibusiso Vilakazi inside the box resulted in a penalty, which Madisha coolly converted in the 3rd minute, setting the tone for the evening.

Sundowns relentlessly pressed forward, and on 27 minutes, a sublime cross from Khama Billiat found Zwane, who slotted home from close range to make it 2-0.

Baroka defended stoutly in the remainder of the first half, with goalkeeper Virgil Vries keeping a clean sheet, including a sharp save against Billiat’s 12-yard effort just before the break.

The second half saw Sundowns maintain their dominance, with Tau scoring early just two minutes in, finishing off a beautiful team move.

Billiat was again pivotal, neatly setting up Tau for his second goal on 71 minutes, increasing the lead to a commanding 4-0.

Baroka’s efforts to get on the board were limited, with a rare late chance from Richard Matloga failing to trouble Sundowns’ goalkeeper, Denis Onyango.

With this win, Sundowns now share 19 points with Baroka and Orlando Pirates but top the table on goal difference—remarkably having played three games less than their rivals.
