Friday 16 March
Maritzburg United 15/20
Draw 23/10 |
Polokwane City 15/4
Maritzburg United, surprisingly sitting fourth, come off three unbeaten league games and showed great grit last week in the Nedbank Cup, pulling off a 2-1 win over Royal Eagles despite being down to 10 men after the sending off of Bevan Fransman, who will miss this match. Polokwane City, after an eight-game winless stretch across all competitions, shocked Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 last week. Our expert tip: backing the home side to prevail.

Saturday 17 March
Chippa United 19/10
Draw 19/10
Free State Stars 15/10
This is a replay of last week’s Nedbank Cup clash where Free State Stars edged it 2-1 thanks to a late strike from Bangali Keita. Free State Stars are aiming to close the gap on top of the table Mamelodi Sundowns to just three points. Chippa United, under Vladislav Heric’s fresh leadership, are struggling with a seven-match winless run. The tip is to put your faith in Free State Stars.

Kaizer Chiefs 6/10
Draw 24/10
AmaZulu 5/1
One of the more one-sided fixtures on the card with Kaizer Chiefs having not lost to AmaZulu since 2007. However, the arrival of Cavin Johnson as AmaZulu’s head coach, notorious for causing headaches to Amakhosi, could level the playing field. The first half of the season saw a goalless draw between these two. AmaZulu tends to vanish for one half, while Chiefs, though sometimes lacking killer instinct, are solid and have set-piece prowess. Expect Kaizer Chiefs to grind out the win.

Lamontville Golden Arrows 26/10
Draw 22/10
Orlando Pirates 1/1
It’s been a tough season for Arrows with just two wins in their last 20 matches. Most recently, they threw away a 2-1 lead to draw with Polokwane City in added time. Orlando Pirates, however, have been formidable since the year began, boasting seven wins, one draw, and just one loss. The return to full fitness of new signing Clifford Mulenga, who impressed off the bench in the recent 3-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs, boosts Pirates’ chances. Expect a comfortable win for the Buccaneers.

Sunday 18 March
Bloemfontein Celtic 8/10
Draw 22/10
Platinum Stars 36/10
Bloemfontein Celtic are a mixed bag this season with eight draws, eight losses, and seven wins. They cruised into the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 win over Richards Bay. Platinum Stars look destined for relegation, anchored at the bottom with just three wins in 23 games. Their recent form of seven losses and two draws in the last nine games doesn’t suggest an upset here. Our tip: back Celtic at home to take all three points.

TREBLE @ 46/10
Maritzburg United Win 15/20
Kaizer Chiefs Win 6/10
Pirates Win 1/1
