Week 13 of the Scottish Premier League kicks off on Saturday, 4 November, bringing a full slate of thrilling fixtures to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
The battle at the summit is intense! Aberdeen’s 2-1 victory over Ross County has tightened the gap to just a single point behind Celtic, following Brendan Rodgers’ side settling for a draw against Kilmarnock.
Rangers are gathering momentum after the change in management, securing a 3-1 away win at Hearts. This weekend offers plenty to look forward to, with St. Johnstone’s visit to Celtic standing out as a marquee clash.
*Please note: This preview was prepared before the Tuesday encounter between Kilmarnock and Hibernian.
Saturday, 4 November
St. Johnstone 10/1 | Draw 47/10 | Celtic 2/9
St. Johnstone have struggled recently, failing to win or score in their last five league matches. Facing powerhouse Celtic won’t make it any easier, especially as the defending champions recover from a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock.
However, Celtic face a taxing Champions League tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, which might test their squad depth. Despite this, Celtic traditionally bounce back strong after disappointing results and are expected to dominate this weekend.
Hibernian 4/10 | Draw 34/10 | Dundee 13/2
Hibernian are flying high with back-to-back league wins, recently handing Motherwell their second defeat of the season. Manager Neil Lennon will anticipate a convincing victory against bottom-placed Dundee.
Dundee are struggling on the road with just one point away from home this season. They urgently need to improve to avoid relegation. Still, Neil McCann will hope for at least a draw to stay in touch with teams above. For value, backing Hibernian to win at 4/10 is a smart call.
Ross County 27/20 | Draw 47/20 | Motherwell 37/20
Ross County showed promise but narrowly lost 2-1 to Aberdeen, who are top contenders. They will aim to carry that form into their home clash with Motherwell.
Motherwell’s three-match winning streak was recently halted by stylish Hibernian. Despite that, coach Steve Robinson believes they can snatch points at Global Energy Stadium. Considering Ross County have only one home win this season, backing Motherwell on a win or draw at 11/20 offers some security with a good chance of outright victory.
Rangers 7/20 | Draw 38/10 | Partick Thistle 7/1
Rangers’ Kenny Miller made a strong statement with a brace in their 3-1 comeback win against Hearts after new management took charge. At home against Partick Thistle, expect Rangers to continue their resurgence.
Though Rangers’ home form is patchy with only one win in five league matches, Partick Thistle have been inconsistent on the road, collecting just one point all season. Rangers are favoured to take it comfortably, so backing a Rangers (-1) handicap at 19/20 is recommended.
Hamilton 17/4 | Draw 28/10 | Aberdeen 6/10
Hamilton recently ended a tough run with a goalless draw and then a convincing 3-1 win against Dundee. However, facing in-form Aberdeen, who have closed the gap on Celtic, is a tall order.
The Dons are on a roll and expected to overpower Hamilton. The best bet here is an away win at 6/10.
Sunday, 5 November
Hearts 15/20 | Draw 5/2 | Kilmarnock 33/10
Sunday’s finale features Hearts hosting Kilmarnock at Tynecastle Park. Hearts showed promise last week taking an early lead against Rangers but eventually lost 3-1 in a tight contest.
Kilmarnock have been unbeaten in three league games, with draws against Celtic and Rangers at home. Considering this, an away double chance at 19/20 looks appealing.
Treble Tip at 3.65/1
Rangers (-1) 1/1
Aberdeen win 11/20
Motherwell Win/Draw 5/10
