Sergio Ramos made history in La Liga by receiving his 19th career red card in Real Madrid’s tough draw against Athletic Bilbao.

The incident came late in the game when Ramos was shown a second yellow card for elbowing Aritz Aduriz, leading to his dismissal.

This remarkable record now makes the 31-year-old the most sent-off player in the history of Spanish football, and unfortunately sidelines him alongside teammates Casemiro and Dani Carvajal for next weekend’s crucial clash against Sevilla.

Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane commented, “Ramos is disappointed as he feels the card was harsh, but decisions are final and we must accept them.”

The draw marks Real Madrid’s third goalless match this season, leaving them in fourth place, eight points behind league leaders Barcelona, who themselves were held by Celta Vigo.

“I’m proud of the effort but disappointed we couldn’t secure the win,” Zidane said.

“The team deserved more and it’s frustrating not to have taken all three points.”

“My role is to keep the squad motivated and playing positively so the goals will come. I’m not worried, but I do feel for the players.”
