The prestigious Queen’s Plate form line is well represented in this major race, which previously delivered a thrilling finish. The winner’s time reflected a false pace that didn’t suit last season’s Winter Series champion AFRICAN NIGHT SKY, who definitely deserves another shot at glory over this ten-furlong trip. Expect a big performance from this Dynasty gelding as he aims to challenge his more fancied rivals.
The seasoned competitors LEGAL EAGLE and CAPTAIN AMERICA engaged in a fierce duel not long ago, but some of their opposition might have been overrated. Both are expected to be strong contenders again, as they finished 2nd and 3rd in this race last year respectively.
LAST WINTER has shown great improvement with every run and made a statement with a brilliant recent performance in a nine-furlong feature. He comfortably beat KRAMBAMBULI, last season’s July 4th placegetter, and is in top form. The bay colt should relish the extra distance, although his jockey faces the challenge of the widest barrier.
