Ram Slam T20 Challenge - 2017 - Hollywoodbets Dolphins - Cricket South Africa

Exciting news! THE RAM SLAM is back! Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially launched the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge, kicking off at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth this Friday evening. The Warriors will face the VKB Knights in a match that will also debut the ground’s state-of-the-art new floodlights.

This weekend, all six franchises will hit the field, featuring an action-packed first of three double headers: the WSB Cape Cobras take on the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, while the Multiply Titans clash with the bizhub Highveld Lions in the thrilling Jukskei Derby at SuperSport Park on Sunday.

Fans have a lot to cheer for, as the famous Catch a Million competition prize pool has been doubled for this season! Now called Catch Two Million, this game applies to all matches televised live on SuperSport and challenges fans to make a clean one-handed catch to win.

CSA Acting Chief Executive Thabang Moroe shared, “We’re thrilled to welcome Ram Hand to Hand Couriers back as naming rights sponsors, especially on such short notice. This season, featuring all our Standard Bank Proteas, promises to be the most significant since the franchise concept’s launch in 2004.”

He added, “Recent exploits by Proteas stars like David Miller, AB de Villiers, Richard Levi, and Faf du Plessis have delivered the three quickest centuries in T20 International cricket – a testament to the thrilling cricket fans can expect this season. The Catch Two Million prize money is a fantastic incentive for fans to get involved!”

“As Shaun Pollock famously said, ‘Players are now becoming spectators and spectators are becoming fielders.’ This season will be packed with incredible moments, including Dale Steyn’s exciting return from injury – a moment anticipated not just locally, but worldwide. Expect fierce battles between our big hitters and top international bowlers,” Moroe continued.

“Our teams are also sharpening their skills ahead of next year’s India tour across all three formats. Additionally, upgraded grounds meeting the best international standards will ensure an exceptional experience for all fans,” he concluded.

Ram Executive Chairman David Lazarus said, “Ram is proudly South African, built on partnership, reliability, and delivering when it counts. When CSA approached us about reviving the Ram Slam, we immediately said yes! We invite all South Africans to come support their teams and stand a chance to win from R2 million in prize money!”

This season, the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge will follow a double round-robin format with two semi-finals, moving away from the previous system where the log toppers automatically entered the final, and the second and third teams fought through an eliminator.

The grand Final is set for 16 December.
