Due to heavy overnight rains with over 40mm in some areas and more showers forecasted, Scottsville’s 20 December meeting has been switched to Greyville Polytrack.
Race times and distances are unchanged as per the original card.
Race 1: KING’S COMMAND (12) Jockey: A Marcus Trainer: S Tarry
A competitive field lines up for this six furlong sprint, but the short-priced favourite KING’S COMMAND looks well-placed to shine. From the stable of S Tarry, this well-bred son of King’s Chapel impressed on his debut over 6f at Greyville recently, earning strong market support. He ran on strongly for a commendable 2nd place and is expected to improve naturally. With top jockey Marcus on board, he’s a solid chance to claim victory.
Race 2: DAYDREAM BELIEVER (2) Jockey: D De Gouveia – Trainer: D Drier
DAYDREAM BELIEVER is progressing impressively with blinkers giving her a huge advantage in a career-best recent run. Despite being wide on her grass debut, she quickened well before fading late to 3rd behind a respectable opponent. The form was strengthened by the runner-up Flamenco Dancer who later won wearing blinkers, making this Oratorio filly one to watch. She makes her debut up the straight.
Race 4: SIR BERNADINI (5)
Jockey: A Delpech – Trainer: D Bosch
SIR BERNADINI was heavily backed before running on to score on his debut over a mile on the polytrack back in October. Though absent for eleven weeks, he should have strengthened. This imported gelding is above average and looks promising for his grass and handicap debut. Keep an eye on him with the experienced Delpech riding.
Race 5: FIORELLA (1) Jockey: A Marcus – Trainer: D Howells
The three-year-old FIORELLA has displayed solid potential in four starts so far. Her runner-up finish behind a classy rival over the same distance last time is notable, especially since the 3rd place runner later finished well in a Grade 3 event on the Highveld. Though carrying a hefty weight today, she faces modest competition and is expected to be tough to beat.

Jockey Lerena’s style will suit this Dupont filly. Also, keep tabs on stablemate MIZIARA, who shares the same Guineas Trial formline and must be taken seriously despite a recent flop due to excuses.
