UEFA-Champions-League

Our Champions League expert thinks he’s uncovered some cracking value in the eight thrilling fixtures lined up for this Tuesday!

The Champions League is back this week, with Europe’s finest clubs ready to battle it out on the second matchday of the 2016/17 tournament.

Though Saturday boasts some intriguing clashes, the spotlight is firmly on the showdown between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, drawing in fans worldwide. Here’s a rundown of Tuesday’s fixtures:

Tuesday 27 September

Group E

CSKA Moscow 2/1 | Draw 9/4 | Tottenham 13/10 (20:45)
CSKA Moscow come into this clash on the back of a superb 2-1 win away to Krylya Sovetov in the Russian League. They’ll host Tottenham at Arena Khimki, where they’ve only had one match this season. The Horses are showing fine form and remain unbeaten. Although they fell 2-0 behind to Bayer Leverkusen in their last Champions League game, they rallied to level at 2-2. Spurs are still chasing their first Champions League points after a surprise 2-1 defeat by Monaco at Wembley on Matchday One. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will aim to transfer their strong league form into Europe, but there’s a big question mark over Harry Kane’s availability after he was stretchered off injured against Sunderland. Even without Kane, Spurs pose an attacking threat, making the ‘Both Teams to Score’ bet an exciting pick at 7/10.

Monaco 27/20 | Draw 22/10 | Bayer Leverkusen 2/1 (20:45)
Monaco have started the season perfectly. Their famous 2-1 victory over Spurs at Wembley last time out puts Leonardo Jardim’s side top of Group E for now. Stade Louis II has been a fortress for Monaco lately, highlighted by recent wins like 3-0 over Rennes and 3-1 against PSG on their patch. That spells trouble for Bayer Leverkusen. The German outfit has clinched two wins in three Bundesliga matches but could only manage a 2-2 draw in their Champions League opener. Monaco are flying and are favourites at 27/20.

Group F

Sporting CP 2/9 | Draw 5/1 | Legia Warsaw 10/1 (20:45)
Sporting, who recently suffered a 3-1 defeat against Rio Ave in the Portuguese league, still top the table after four wins from five games. Their standout performance was a hard-fought game at Real Madrid, only losing late to a Morata header and former player Cristiano Ronaldo. Legia Warsaw have struggled, currently just one spot above the relegation zone in the Polish league and had a harsh 6-0 defeat to Dortmund in their Champions League opener. For good value, placing a bet on Sporting to Win + Over 2.5 Goals at 6/10 is a smart move.

Dortmund 16/10 | Draw 5/2 | Real Madrid 15/10 (20:45)
Borussia Dortmund are in outstanding form, hosting last year’s champions Real Madrid. Managers Thomas Tuchel and Zinedine Zidane both are rising stars with similar tactical styles. Real Madrid remain unbeaten in La Liga so far, while Dortmund have notched two consecutive 6-0 wins as of writing. In their previous encounters, Dortmund have outplayed Real 4-1 at home, although Real clinched a 2-0 win in the return leg, knocking Dortmund out in the 2012/13 Champions League. Expect goals in this one, but Dortmund are tipped to claim the win. Back Dortmund at 16/10 and cheer on the Black and Yellow army!

Group G

Copenhagen 8/10 | Draw 49/20 | Club Brugge 33/10 (20:45)
Copenhagen began their campaign well, earning a draw away to FC Porto. They are the only unbeaten side in the Danish league, carrying their form into the Champions League. On the other hand, Club Brugge have been disappointing with three losses from seven games and just got hammered 3-0 by Leicester. Their hopes of progressing in this tournament or even moving to the Europa League look slim. A home win for Copenhagen at 8/10 looks like a safe bet.

Leicester City 11/10 | Draw 9/4 | Porto 49/20 (20:45)
Leicester City supporters have plenty of reasons to celebrate after two back-to-back 3-0 victories. Islam Slimani has been a revelation, netting twice on his Premier League debut. They face Porto, who struggled to hold a one-goal lead in their opener. Porto will need their best game against the Foxes, having won only once in their last four games across all competitions. Given the form, Leicester to win at 11/10 is a bet worth backing.

Group H

Sevilla 15/20 Draw 28/10 | Lyon 33/10 (20:45)
Sevilla got off to a less-than-desired start but remain unbeaten under new coach Jorge Sampaoli, one of three undefeated La Liga teams. This season, Sevilla has seen high-scoring games and managed to keep a clean sheet against Juventus in their opener. Lyon come into the match fresh from a strong 3-0 win against Dinamo Zagreb, but their domestic form is shaky, failing to win three of five games. Backing Sevilla to secure maximum points at 15/20 is a confident pick.

Dinamo Zagreb 25/2 | Draw 17/4 | Juventus 1/4 (20:45)
Dinamo Zagreb are struggling after recent heavy defeats: 3-0 to Lyon and 5-2 in their domestic league. Juventus, capable of dismantling giants on their day, experienced their first Serie A loss to Inter Milan but remain formidable. Key players like Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain, and Miralem Pjanic make them a tough side. Juventus are solid in defence too. Backing Juventus to Win To Nil at 6/10 looks a smart bet.

Tuesday TREBLE @ 17/2

Sevilla Win 15/20

Dortmund Win 16/10

Leicester Win 11/10
