The Hollywoodbets Dolphins stride boldly into the second half of the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge fueled by fantastic news: their star left-handed batsman, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, has recovered from a back injury and is set to bolster the squad for their upcoming home clash against the formidable WSB Cape Cobras at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead this Friday.
Welcoming Vaughn back is a tremendous boost for the Dolphins, who have so far completed only two of their five fixtures. Currently, with an opening round victory over the same Cobras they face this Friday and a narrow defeat against the bizhub Highveld Lions, Durban’s finest stand on ten points, level with both the Knights and Lions.
Coach Morgan expressed his excitement, saying, “This is without a doubt the most thrilling squad I’ve ever coached in my career.”
“Being able to take on South Africa’s top talent with this team is an absolute privilege — exactly why we play this game. We may never see all these international stars play together in the same squad again, which makes this team even more special.”
“The lads are buzzing to showcase their skills and play entertaining cricket, and there’s simply no excuse not to deliver.”
The Cobras, having beaten the Dolphins in their first match at SuperSport Park Centurion, have hit their stride with three straight wins, now sitting comfortably in second place on the log.
Experience will be crucial, and the Dolphins will lean on former Cobra Dane Vilas when they meet at 6pm on Friday.
Vilas commented, “They’re obviously a strong side packed with seasoned Proteas and experienced campaigners. We performed well against them last time, batting and bowling with confidence upfront, so we’re heading into this Friday’s match with plenty of belief.”
“I hope I can provide a bit of strategic insight into their mindset both leading up to and during the game.”
The Dolphins’ first home game attracted around 6,000 supporters despite the match being called off due to rain. Vilas thanked the fans and marketing team for the impressive turnout.
“The marketing team’s efforts have really translated into strong attendance, just what we cricketers crave — the energy of a packed stadium.
