Exciting news for Arsenal fans! The Gunners have officially secured the services of the electrifying Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabonese goal machine, who has dazzled the Bundesliga with his goal-scoring prowess, is now on board with Arsenal after signing a long-term deal worth a club-record £56 million.
Boasting an incredible 98 goals in 144 league games for Dortmund, the 28-year-old arrives as the perfect replacement following the departure of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United and with Olivier Giroud reportedly heading to Chelsea.
Arsenal proudly welcomed their marquee signing, confirming the completion of the deal on Wednesday, pending a few regulatory formalities.
Here’s what the club had to say: “Welcome, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang! Our latest star signing from Borussia Dortmund, joining us on a long-term contract for a record fee. Auba is globally recognised as one of football’s top strikers with a phenomenal record of 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga matches and involvement in 172 goals across 213 matches for Dortmund in all competitions.
As the Gabon captain and the all-time leading goal scorer for his country, Aubameyang also made history by winning the African Footballer of the Year award in 2015. We’re thrilled to have him on board and will soon confirm his squad number once all paperwork is finalised.”
On the flip side, Dortmund are in talks to loan Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi as Aubameyang’s replacement.
