Cricket South Africa has proudly announced the Proteas Men’s squad that will be awarded national contracts for the exhilarating 2018-19 season.
The exciting contracts cover the upcoming bilateral tours, including away matches in Sri Lanka and Australia, as well as thrilling home series against Zimbabwe, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The season will culminate with the highly-anticipated 2019 ICC World Cup held across England and Wales.
This season is especially notable as first-time national contracts have been awarded to emerging stars Aiden Markram and Lungi Ngidi, both of whom have made their international debuts during the previous contract year.
“Last year we made a one-off increase to 21 contracted players, but this season, we are confident that returning to the regular squad size of 18 will best support our national teams across all formats,” shared CSA Acting Chief Executive, Thabang Moroe. “This setup allows us to balance contracts between our Test legends and limited-overs specialists.”
“Aiden and Lungi have made impressive and immediate contributions on the international stage, perfectly reflecting our aim to nurture a dynamic mix of youth and experienced world-class talent,” Mr Moroe added.
