When asked about the possibility of Jeremy Brockie being sold, SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler said that ‘every player has a price’.
Jeremy Brockie has been struggling to find the net recently, failing to score in his last nine matches for the Pretoria-based side. Despite this dry spell, over the past three seasons he has stood out as one of the PSL’s most consistent goal scorers.
Rumours have linked him with a transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns before the season started, and more recently, the Orlando Pirates have also shown interest.
Coach Eric Tinkler acknowledged the interest from Sundowns but noted that no formal offers have been made so far. He did not discount the chance of the New Zealand striker moving to another club in Gauteng.
“We’ve heard that Sundowns have had an interest in Brockie for the last six months but as yet we have not received any offer,” Tinkler remarked.
“No player is not for sale. Every player has a price. You are not going to get me giving players for free, that’s for sure.
“If you are a professional footballer you should know that you are contracted to the club and need to continue working hard.”
If Brockie does leave, Tinkler assures fans that the club will seek to bring in reinforcements quickly, but time is tight with the January transfer window nearing its close.
“In the event he leaves then obviously we have to go into the market.
“If we lose one then we need to replace him, it’s as simple as that. We have a 28-man squad, and the minute we lose then we must sign.”
