Swansea’s Stunning Comeback: How They Outplayed Arsenal at Liberty Stadium | Hollywoodbets Sports Blog

Watch Swansea climb out of the relegation battle, stunning Premier League giants Arsenal with a fantastic 3-1 win at the Liberty Stadium last Tuesday.

The hosts defied expectations with a spirited display that didn’t just match Arsenal but created more chances and put the Gunners under real pressure throughout the match.

Early in the game, Swansea threatened on two occasions; Jordan Ayew’s 17-yard shot was expertly deflected wide by Shkodran Mustafi on the 7th minute, following impressive work down the right flank by Nathan Dyer. Moments later, Dyer tried to set up Alfie Mawson at the back post with a low cross but Aaron Ramsey made a crucial interception.

Against the run of play, Arsenal took the lead

Ki Sung-Yeung nearly opened the scoring with a powerful 30-yard strike narrowly wide on the 16th minute, and Mawson’s deflected shot from a corner missed just by inches on the 28th.

Arsenal’s first real goal threat came around the 30-minute mark when Alex Iwobi’s effort was tipped away smartly by Lukasz Fabianski, while Ayew’s run ended with a poor finish past the left post.

Despite Swansea’s dominance, Arsenal seized the lead on 33 minutes with Monreal sliding in to finish off Mesut Ozil’s clipped cross at the back post.

But Swansea responded immediately, clawing back possession high up the pitch. Mawson found Clucas, who coolly slotted the ball past Petr Cech from 8 yards out.

Leroy Fer missed a great chance to put Swansea ahead just before halftime, opting for a tame shot at Cech instead of passing to the open Ayew.

Before the break, Granit Xhaka blasted well over the bar from 18 yards following a blocked ball by Iwobi.

Early in the second half, Ozil was denied by Fabianski with a low drive just outside the box. But the defining moment came in the 61st minute when a major error from Cech allowed Swansea to take the lead. Monreal’s throw-in was passed back to Cech by Mustafi, but under pressure, the goalie miscued his clearance, allowing Ayew to slot home from 12 yards.

Mustafi’s defensive mistakes proved costly as Swansea capitalised late in the game

Iwobi’s long-range attempt sailed over the bar on 65 minutes, and Dyer missed a golden opportunity six minutes later, shooting just wide after being set up by Mustafi’s defensive error.

In the dying moments, another defensive blunder from Monreal allowed Tom Carroll to feed Ayew, who created chaos before Mustafi’s deflection set up Clucas to smash home the third goal from close range.

Final Score: Swansea 3 – 1 Arsenal
